Join us for three fun-filled Make and Take Art Events! Each Thursday features a different creative project designed for a specific age group. No artistic experience is necessary. All supplies, step-by-step introduction, and dinner are included with registration.

Drop-In Mahjong Play at the Community Center in 2026
Free WEEKLY American Mahjong Play @ the Community Center
Goal: The goal of the weekly American Mahjong open play time is for it to be relaxed, fun and an enjoyable experience for all participants. The games are to be fun and friendly - but not highly competitive.
When: Weekly on Fridays
Time: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Holland Charter Township Community Center

Mahjong 101 begins with the basics. You'll learn the goal of the game, become familiar with the Mahjong tiles, and explore the 2026 National Mahjong League card in depth. We'll also practice building possible hands ("practice lines") so you can start recognizing winning combinations. Time permitting, we'll briefly introduce setting up a game and dealing the tiles.
Mahjong 102 starts with a quick review before moving into gameplay. You'll learn key elements of American Mahjong including the Charleston, drawing, and discarding, exposures, and how to use jokers. The session will conclude with guided gameplay, giving you the chance to practice what you've learned with instructor support.
Goal: The goal of the Intro classes is to introduce you to this engaging and social tile game. By the end of the series, you'll have the knowledge and confidence to sit down and enjoy a game of Mahjong with friends.
